   The municipal area of Alins has two parts: La Vall Ferrera and La Vall de  Tort(both valleys). This is the start point to reach the highest summit in  Catalonia, La Pica d'Estats,which peak is 3,143 mts high.

  There's others high peaks around this area, like El Monteixo (2,905),  el Pic  de Baborte (2,938), Saloria (2790), Norís (2.834), etc. and lakes: Like Sotllo,  Baborte,  Baiau, etc. there's three Refuges: Vallferrera,  Baborte and  Baiau. 

This is a very accesible area from La Pobla de Segur, Sort  and   Llavorsí,  coming from the local roads L-504 and C-13.  It's very easy also   coming from Andorra through the mountain pass of Cabús.However, it's  recommended to drive with a 4x4 and just remember that is forbidden to take goods from Antorra to Spain, though Andorra is not part of the EU.

  As architecture is concerned there's several constructions that deserve to  be mentioned,like the pre-romanic Church in San Feliu, "Colomer ",and the  tower-prison in Alins,  the Church Santa María de la Torre and the hermitages  of "Sant Quirc" and "San Francisco de Araós"(the oldest one in El Pallars)
