CASTELL DE MUR

    The municipality of Castell de Mur belongs to the region of the Pallars Jussà and depends on the Local Court of Tremp.Has an extent of 63.2Km2 and 157 inhabitants according to the last census. The Castle of Mur (Castell de Mur) was one old possession of the Counts of the Pallars. Over the year 1,053 the property belonged to a famous knight called Arnau Mir de Tost. The well- known Church of Santa Maria was initially constructed the first half of the XI century and is located to the same flat as the castle. This Church was partially destroyed in 1936 and after the civil war began the reconstruction. At the present time,its original architecture is completely recovered, despite of having lost part of its pictorial charm and its esculptural and artistic treasure.
