La Pobla de Segur is the second most important town in the Pallars Jussà region and covers an area of 34km². Currently, its population stands at around 3,000 inhabitants. The wealth of the town and its way of life are centred on its magnificent shopping facilities and businesses as well as agriculture and cattle breeding. The town is situated at 525m above sea level and enjoys a mild climate throughout the year despite being situated in the Pyrenean foothills. The River Flamisell separates the two most important sections of the town.

    Entering La Pobla de Segur by the C-13 road from Tremp, on the left there is a well-established industrial and services zone and, on the right, a holiday area with modern and well situated buildings around the head of the Sant Antoni reservoir and the River Noguera Palleresa.

    The weekly market is held on Wednesdays, public holidays included. The most emblematic festivals are those of the town’s two patron saints, Sant Miquel (Saint Michael), on the 8^th of May, and the Verge de Ribera (the Virgin of the Riverbank), on the 18^th of July. The latter coincides with the Promopallars Fair, at which all manner of local articles, from the town itself and the surrounding area, are on display. On the first Sunday of July, the town celebrates the traditional festival of Els Raiers (The Rafters) during which rafts of tree trunks are steered down the River Noguera Pallaresa from the Llania Dam to the Pont de Claverol.

   Although the population of La Pobla de Segur has fallen in recent years, it is still a lively town, which has everything necessary to make your stay quiet, pleasant and entertaining.
