SALÀS DE PALLARS

      Salàs de Pallars, is  573 Mts high of the sea level, its municipal term has an extent of  21 Kms 2, and at the time  reside here  358 inhabitants. It belongs to the region of El Pallars Jussà, and belongs to the Tremp Administrative Area. It has an added nucleus called Sensui.

      It was a fortified medieval village composed of six towers; still possible to see it in good conditions. One of the towers have been turned into the head office of the Local Council, situated in the entrance of the village. Its Church, which venerates La Mare de Déu del Coll, has a facade and a singular bell tower and has been recently restored. The old  church  Sant Pere has been also restored and has been turned into an original chapel in the local cemetery, but really worth to be visited.  Basically, Salàs del Pallars is an agglomerate small town composed by narrow streets where is possible to see the inevitable track  of the nowadays tourism  but still  conserves this very characteristic local colour through the ages. Curious is that most part of  its single-family houses were interlaced and communicated by the so-called " Cellers " (Wine cellars)  in the subsoil, what gave way to many hiding places. Its  cattle fair was formerly one of the biggest and most popular fairs around the country.

 

San Antoni reservoir covers part of  its municipal term , its surface is over 8 km long  per 2 km wide in its wider part. Nautical, aquatic and water activities are offered and it is of an exceptional tourism attractiveness.
