    Talarn, with a municipal area of  30 Km2 , 572 metres above sea level, and  365 inhabitants,  which belongs to the to the Tremp Administrative Area, is one of the most well known villages in El Pallars Jussà, thanks also to the inclusion of the A.G.B.S. (Basic Suboficials General Academy) which was before an Instruction Military Camp of  recruitements denominated “General Pablo Martín Alonso", that moves extraordinarily its demography due to the students who attend their military studies. Talarn is though a very animated and motivated village, eventhough we don’t have to forget that is also very rich in gastronomy; restaurants of quality, good prices and service.

 

     
    We can find its origins in the XI  century, as it was taking shape around the old castle, which was entrusted to the Vizconde Arnau del Pallars.  From the end of the XII  century until the mittle of the XIII, Talarn and  its castle shared alternatively his property, as well as did wealthy families, aristocracy and nobility; Alfonso el Magnánimo and  Juan II among others. Troubled times came in the XVIII  century as a result of rising taxes and a popular revolt was initiated against the nobility. That was until the XIX  century, that the people enjoyed a comfortable standard of life.

The Church

      It is really easy to get to Talarn by the C-13  road  heading north from Tremp to La Pobla de Segur and turning left after a couple of km.  The Great Fest  is celebrated in August and also the 11th  and 12th   of  November is celebrated the popular Fest  San Martí.
