 Santa  María de Ribera de Cardós

  

Vall de Cardós belongs to  the region of El  Pallars Sobirà and depends on the Tremp Administrative Area. It is situated 898 m above the sea level, with an extent of  56 Km2  and has at the present time 326 inhabitants.    Its  added villages are: Ainet de Cardós, Lladrós, Anàs, Cassibós, Estaón, Surri and Bonestarre.    Easy to get there by the C-13  road heading north from Sort and turning left after Llavorsi  by the L-504 heading Tavascan. This municipality adopted the name Vall de Cardós just  before the XIX century.  Some  confusion came up with the name since then, and it was not until 1970 that definetely adopted the actual one.   Outstands the romanesque church  Santa Maria de Ribera de Cardós, from the XII century, with a great  squared bell tower, as well as the romanesque bridges in Cassibrós and La Verge  del Pont, and some feudal  houses of certain dimensions like Casa Mill  or Casa  Pubill.
